Based on a poem by ‘(EwB) co-founder, Cecil Hershler, this short film was proudly produced by Education without Borders
Through the medium of dance, the film tells the story of a young girl in a South African township. 13 year old Onitha, experiences sexual violence by a trusted family member and with shame and rejection she confides in her teacher who shies away from the issue and does not report it.
As time passes, guilt consumes him, manifesting as a tormenting figure representing the shame of inaction and silence. “Shame” becomes his constant companion.
The dance sequences are wonderful and emphasize the gravity of the situation- A very well directed, acted and produced film!
