Our society has always considered a Foreign Language or International Film to be a film that is produced outside North America

We are pleased to see that The Oscars have now moved in our direction and in April of 2019 changed the title of the category from “Best Foreign Language Feature” to “Best International Feature Film” 

While this is a step in the right direction the category rules remain the same and 2020 a number of countries had their submissions ruled out such as Nigeria because the film was made in English which is the official language of Nigeria.
