A hectic morning routine cannot mask the mundane home life of Abhi, an independent young man who leaves his bachelor apartment in Mumbai each day to the care of his housekeeper, Deepa, who in turn is followed in her equally mundane daily chores of cleaning, washing, making the bed, cooking and watering the plants.
Not exactly a Jeanne Delman, Surya Balakrishnan’s film is a slow, careful balance between a socially mandated employer-employee relationship and who these two contemporaries are in those unavoidable moments when each has found time to be alone with themselves.
As in life, it’s fate that intervenes and brings them together in a most unexpected way; Abhi, to see and Deepa, to be seen. A gentle film about a newfound present for the couple, if not an ideal future.
